Spring Mountain Aug 17/18 TrackXperience

Hello!

The hubby and I signed up for Spring Mountain August 17th and 18th. Since this is our first time at this track we are both signed up for B group. I have a couple of questions I am hoping you all can help answer, and if you will be there please say hi and pit near us so we can have fun together!

Lodging, can you camp at the track, and do they have an accessible shower that you can use as a non-member?

It's summer, and its hot as . I'm going to mount an SC2 front and SC1 slick. My front tire warmer is out of commission, but I figure with the ambient heat there shouldn't be any problem running without them - right? Do you think this combination will last two days? The SC2 front has one track day on it already.

Any tips to give us? I always like knowing if there are specific corners to be careful about. The CBR is down with parts due in this coming week, but I would hate to have the Duc or Ape in a similar situation due to a lack of experience at this track.

I camped there and was able to shower there. This was two years ago but I donít think they would have changed things.

The track and facilities are awesome. Bring a bathing suit and go over to the lake after the day.

One thing to note, on the way out there if youíre coming from la, if the gps takes you in the back way (Death Valley road I think?) you lose cell service for about an hour, and that road isnít all that well traveled. The other option is to go through Vegas

This is looking more possible. Weather report is showing only 99 for a high that weekend. (I overheated at chuckwalla awhile back and now I'm scared of the heat).
I'm chasing the Vegas to Reno offroad race on Friday. Should be back to Vegas Saturday night and able to rip around Spring Mountain on Sunday.
Are you guys staying at the track and what days are you guys signed up for.

Yep, it'll be hot as a crack pipe, but you know what to do, so I'll save the advice on hydration, etc.etc.etc.

I dont mind ACS. Like the garage, like being close, like having runoff but the track configuration isn't anything special. If they were running Sunday I would join you.

Never been to anything north of Buttonwillow :(.

I don't know how hard you are on the rear tire but on a liter bike I would run a sc2 specially if you are planning to get two days out if it. You should have the tire vendor flip it for you at the end of the first day. Not to scare you but I rather have a cold rear tire than a cold front. Just be extra careful and park your bike in the sun and use that natural tire warmer.

I'll see if I can pick you out from the other 15 brand new R1Ms that show up. Seems like all the new and fancy bikes show up at ACS. There's a guy that actually rides his HP4 Race at Fontana. I'm sure his is the only one that actually sees some track time in the US.

So I think I saw only three identical R1M's!!!
Track is so-so..Probably least favorite of all the tracks.
I've run the track in auto configuration and it's much better.
Probably wouldn't go back there...

My apologies for not getting back to this post and catching up with all of you! I missed you guys! work...

The track day was amazing, and Dustin and I both got bumped down to the beginner group immediately after the first session which was hilarious! We were both awful figuring out the track. They consolidated the groups so we ran 30 minute sessions for both days. Lot's of track time in 100 degree heat!

The facilities are gorgeous, and gas is cheap at the nearby gas stations. It is about an hour to Las Vegas which I dragged Dustin to our first night for his first visit to the strip ever. It was a very exciting track to visit and I encourage all of you to try Spring Mountain at some point.

ACS is so expensive I do not know how you all afford it.

it is becoming R1 city at every track. There was a guy on a brand new R1M who could ride well enough to be dangerous. It was always a chore getting around him until i ran into him again a few laps later
