I rode my bike today up to Idyllwild. The lower section was a lot of fun, but the last mile or two had some gravel in the corners from the snow plows.

The mile high cafe sells Monte Cristo sandwiches. They were amazing.

I've been ridin'

I took a run up GMR last Saturday. The front side was clean. East fork to Azusa was a little dirty here and there(nothing too major) and there was one corner that was partially flooded. There was nothing that you couldn't see coming ahead of time as long as your had your eyes open. Road was wet.

I rode ACH this afternoon. Road was pretty clean, some small rocks and some sand(mostly down the center) here and there on the way up to Newcomb's. The temp really starts to drop a couple miles past Newcombs as you get on the shady side of the mountain. There's snow left and right.... water running across the road here and there.

It was a gorgeous up there! If you head on up, watch for ice(especially in the am).

I rode my bike today. About a half-mile to return some library books that I never even really took a look at because I've been having too much fun with my bikes lately.

Then I rode it back home!

I just got home from riding Corona to Idyllwild to Palomar and then back to Corona with 2 of my buddies.

We had a near miss with an oncoming car that made a pass around a semi. All three of us had to go into the bike lane while the oncoming car passed us. None of us panicked. We just faded to the right and swore through the Sena’s.

Traffic was minimal and the weather was perfect.

It was a great time.

I have only done Azusa once. Those turns get super sharp when the road dead ends at the lake. Good stuff.

Super fun!

If you are up to give Azusa another run and try GMR on a weekday let me know.

I am into it. I usually have one day off on a weekday. The mountain bike racing season has ended, so my schedule opened up. I will hit you up for my next weekday ride.

I rode my bike today...

From my house in Garden Grove through Santiago Canyon to Ortega Hwy. Had some breakfast in Lake Elsinore then headed back home stoping at Orvac on the way to pick up some cables.

Left the house just before 8:00am, returned home at about noon.

I ran up to the states to pick up a parcel that was mailed to Miles.

For the trip up, I took the "Free Road". More fun, and avoids two of the three toll booths (saves all of $2.00 in tolls). Within the first mile of my trip, the free road had eight or ten cows peacefully grazing on the shoulders. I tip-toed as quietly as I could, as nothing could ruin one's day like a small stampede of spooked cows.

We all know that horses run back to the barn faster, so for the trip home, I just blasted down the toll road. After all, dinner was waiting!

Along an area called the Mirador, about ten miles North of where we live, there's a "curva peligrosa" for which they post up a sign and a helpful sign that shows how fast you're going. (Wait a tick..... Don't we all have a panel-mounted speedometer already? Why do I need this? Oh well, that's another discussion.)

In any case, through experience I've learned that while it's a 3-digit display, the third digit isn't all seven segments. Just two. Thus, it can display speeds from 0-199 km/hr, but at 200km/hr and above, I learned that it just blanks out. Yesterday I hit it at 165, which felt pretty nice. I didn't have to scrub off too much speed to take the "dangerous curve".
