Crashed 10/1

Thought Iíd tell you all about my crash.

Myself and a small group of 3 others, 2 from this forum weíre cruising down ACH behind this 1937 Chrysler who was doing about 20 under the speed limit. When the road straightens out we go to pass. Just as I was passing the driver goes to make a left on a side street and I clipped the front bumper.

I stayed upright but the bumper hit my leg and tore into my bike. I have a sore leg with some bruising and nots. My bike was totaled by the insurance. It wasnít unrepairable but I figured what the , Iíll get a new one.

It was mostly my fault but the main thing is that no one was hurt and I did learn some valuable lessons.

I have it on video, you can watch on Instagram @ demo_man

Glad you are ok, that was a small price to pay for that type of mistake.

You should buy that bike back...if you don't shoot me a PM I'll buy it from the insurance with your help.

Did the driver use a left turn signal ???
Or did he just turn left unexpectedly with no indication ?

One persistent mistake I see riders make when trying to ride faster: Using too much lean, too late in the corner, well after the apex of a turn. This is precisely where you want to be on the gas not increasing lean. Remedy: use reference points for tip in and use a strong countersteer input to quickly flick the bike to max lean at tip in

Wow that's a gnarly hole........and through the sub frame.... Glad your leg wasn't in the way of that. Amazing that you didn't go down either. There are some good spirits with you on ACH.

Well then the driver should have used hand signals. Without signaling a turn, he is at fault.

Glad that you did not sustain injuries. Always expect an unexpected move from a cager like they are trying to kill you.
Agree with the others saying buy back the totaled bike for a track bike.

My insurance basically looked at a satellite image of where the accident happened and said, that yellow line makes it out fault. No big deal, cops werenít involved.

The Honda hasn't happened yet. I am likely going to get a new bike after next season and chances are that it's not going to be a Kawi .
