I was thinking of heading out this weekend. No specific day or hour. I am returning from a hand injury that affected me more than I thought it would, so I'll be taking it really easy trying to get throttle feel back. RC8 R... Don't want to let it get sloppy hand jerky in a corner, that is for sure.

I usually prefer morning, but whatever. Anyone want to ride?

Anyone ever hear of "The Snake" being called "Dead Man's Turn"?

Or should I chalk it up to typical sensationalized reporting.

Lived and ridden in So Cal for several decades now and never once heard it referenced as 'Dead Man's Curve (Turn)'. 'The Snake' or Mulholland has always been the name I've heard it called.

At worst, I've heard it mentioned like this..."Did you hear about Roger? Yeah, he got bit by 'The Snake'" Meaning he went down in that corner.

That specific turn has a number of names, "Dead man's turn" is one of them. Pretty much nobody uses that name for it anymore. Im sure the media dug it up from some old report or something. I have heard that specific turn referred to as "Dead mans Corner", "Edwards corner", and "the J turn"

Dead man's turn is on Mulholland but over between Coldwater Cyn and Laurel Cyn..

Been there since late 60's

Yeah, but that is not the same corner that is being referenced in the news articles. So maybe the story writer just used that as a reference to add some "flair" to the story.

Late to this, was hibernating. Anyway, that particular corner has certainly been called deadman's in the past but that's a pretty common label for a sharp crashy turn. (there were a lot of deadman's curves when I was growing up, multiples on the same road to). But lately it is true that it's now mostly called Edward's corner after the late Ed of Ed and Vern's Rock Store. I haven't been in a while but Vern used to sit in the front booth on weekends.
