I was thinking about this video the other day. Had filtered up to the front of a red light and was slightly into the crosswalk. A big truck came around just like the one in the video a little fast.

I was definetly thinking about escape routes!

Here are my intersection tips in similar situations

1 - If you cheat to front of light, do NOT jet off without checking both oncoming directions thoroughly
2 - Do NOT just look at vehicles near the intersection, look for vehicles further away that might be running the red light completely and at high speed, these are the ones that will get you
3 - If you're approaching a red that is about to be green, watch for people in the other direction trying to beat the light before you fly through

I ALWAYS look on the right side of the road to see if anyone is looking to pull out and turn left going opposite of my direction. I once had someone just pull out to turn left but did not look left. I slammed into them but it is best to be cautious of any turns coming off that road. It is so common for motorcyclists to check left and right to make sure we don't get hit but lots of drivers just don't look or check once then don't check again. It is so aggravating but better to be slow and cautious at those turns.
