2010 BMW s1000RR ignition bypass

Im considering running a ignition bypass on my BMW,
Yet trying to find a how to or if someone already did this with another bike or BMW. Being the bike has a immobilizer I wanna take the full ignition out leaving the immobilizer and have a toggle switch to take place of the key.

Does anyone have any ideas or know anyone that did this already?
I know most track bike riders go this route being they dont want to lose the key with a accident on track.

Im feeling that I can take the ignition out but leave the immobilizer intact with the chip or key and take the ignition out to replace it...

I know it’s doable but is the weight loss that significant you can’t deal with the key?

Call the boys at Irv Seaver, ask for the tech named Dustin he specializes in s1000rr’s he might’ve able to give you some pointers

Miruri its not the weight more of the loss of key(s) if anything was to happen on track and i lose keys I know its around 400 or more for a new ignition. if i go with a lock smith the immobilizer will be another issue. thats why I wanna run a bypass this issue.

Thanks for the info as well ill look into that

okay, simple fix... keep a key in the ignition and ziptie it to the tripple tree?

With woodcraft the accessory makes it to where the rider doesnt need to accommodate the concern of if or where they key is. That Is what I feel could be the relief as I want to not have to be concentrating if the ky is still connected or if in accident will it become lost. Just much easier to cut out the main issue and call it.

+1 for Woodcraft keyless starts. They make some excellent plug and play devices. Alright I'll stop being a pest, just post pictures when you're done so we can see it!

I love the bypass on my 600RR, it's a SPST switch with one of those protective covers so it feels like I'm arming a missile when I turn on the bike.

1000RR forums will probably have walkthroughs on how to do this, if not Youtube.

I believe that there is no bypass for the keyed ignition on BMWs. At least when we were racing (2010-2012) even the WSBK guys still had the keyed ignitions stuck down behind their 2D dashes. We did the same.

I wouldn't be surprised that since it is CANBUS that it's not as easy as crossing wires. Maybe there is a ECU flash or something that could do it.
