Old rider, new to forum - Vista, CA

I got the bug for a street fighter after riding for the last 10 years on an ADV bike. Found a good deal on a 990 SuperDuke and am enjoying the out of it. Had a co-worker talk me into a TrackDay in October and now I am looking for something a little more aerodynamic. This brought back memories of CCS Southwest racing. Any suggestions?

The Super Duke is excellent for canyon riding. Better than just about any super sport, actually. I'd stick with it.

Oh, and welcome to the board!

The new Ducati V4R has some interesting aero. If I had your money I'd get that.

Oh, and welcome!

The key for me is to cut down on the air drag. I only hit around 120mph on the front section of Fontana. My body was an air dam and my head felt like it was going to blow off. I tried to 'tuck in' but that is not easy to do when your wrists are at the same level as your helmet. I searched for an upper bracket that could clamp onto the steering stem, found one for a 690 enduro that I would need to fabricate to fit a 'Y' fairing stay to hold up a top fairing. I found some universal clip -ons and then looked at the price difference between a used liter bike and my 990. I would also need some rear sets... so, might as well keep the 990 SD in its current form, sell it and search for a suitable track bike.
I mean, there is a whole lot of ME hanging off this bike. I need all the wind tunnel technology I can get!

If financially doable, just keep it for the street and get a dedicated track bike. That's what I did. I don't have to worry about crying if dump my street bike on a track!

with that advice, I now have an RC51 in my garage. Needs some love and maintenance but it runs strong.
